The city supervisors met on Thursday, October 22nd at the Clinton Fire Station. Those present were Tim Clark, Jason Hayes, Richard McCormac, and Chad Brown.
Chief Webb had reported that the active COVID-19 cases in VBC were down from 15 to 13 and that the school was running smoothly. He also noted that 23 school districts in the state were in the red category within northwest and northeast Arkansas. Van Buren County school districts were all in the green, non- critical category.
Tim Clark reported that bids were being sought for bank rehabilitation of the Town Branch. This would help the flood plain mapping that is set for early 2021. FEMA has suggested minimal bank shaping and debris removal will be favorable for the city in lowering its flood plain level.
Jason Hayes reminded everyone that the Chili Cookoff was rescheduled for Saturday, October 24th and encouraged everyone to attend. He said that 11 teams had entered and that armbands would be $5 per person for all-you-can-eat. The weather was looking favorable and he encouraged everyone to come out and support a good cause. Charles Wilson had reported that the court square would be closed from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. the day of the cookoff and said that cones and barrels were ready for easy and quick installation. He said that the barrels and cones would be left at the Chamber office for Scare on the Square. The City Council had authorized for the regular Scare on the Square activities barring any unforeseen problems.
The meeting concluded with City Attorney Chad Brown reminding everyone to exercise their right to vote with early voting ongoing and Election Day set for Tuesday, November 3rd.
As always, feel free to contact City Hall with any questions or concerns. Please remain safe & healthy.
